Video Production Evaluation
20th October 2015
Devante Amos

Our first assignment has been freak or unique and had to make either a freaky advert or a advert that is unique. In my video production group we created a advert for our product we created which was a energy drink called Energe. We thought of this as its aimed at teenagers of today and most teenagers these days drink energy drinks. When researching we searched up different energy drink adverts that could inspire ours and also different type of advert like shampoo, deodorant and a soft drink.
The research helped as it gave us ideas for our advert like the type background to film it in, the different specific camera angles to bring effect and other effects and transitions to help improve our advert and so on. We worked well with the filming practical and coming together to make advert look good and professional with different backgrounds and camera angles. But we didn't work so well is working in the group while we were thinking of a product to produce.
I thought the project was good and it was something new working with new people, working with cameras and filming round a new facility.
My time management was good at the start with research etc but when it came to filming we was taking more time trying to get the scenes just how we wanted. I'd say our time management was pretty decent.
From this project i have learned how to work more well in groups in practical work and working round somewhere new. Also, to work with new cameras knowledge of how to work them and other complex stuff on the camera. Also, in this project i have learned to use different software on the computer like Photoshop and Adobe premiere.

If i could do the project again i would create a new product in a clothing as its something everyone's interested in a whole different age range. Also, i would do my research different put in more detail and depth and add on something simple e.g spider diagram etc.

I feel like our advert has gone alot better than i thought and good amount of effort has been put in.

Proposal (Photography)

For my freak or unique montage i have thought of doing something more unique but still a bit freaky and something everyone knows and heard that has a good twist to it. I want it to be something like a retro kids cartoon so everyone knows what it is but has a big twist to it that people will like and something that will fit with it well. I will make a unique photography on Photoshop and edit it to make it look eye catching. I researched on the internet at Unique photos with slight twist and took couple of ideas and adapted them myself.
I will need to take the photos myself with a white paper background and with good lighting coming from a certain angle, using props you bring from home and if you forget you use figures from the college to come up with a freak or unique photo.
I will use the tools on Photoshop i have learned over the couple weeks like magic wand tool, crop tool and so on, i want to merge couple pictures together to make a montage to make it look good, unique and abit freaky.
i want it too look dark and evil so it looks unique and abit freaky.

Photography Evaluation

In our assignment we are doing something called Freak or Unique which where we had to create a product in groups of 3 in the film production groups and had to film a advert in a different lesson and had to research different adverts etc and for this the research was searching up unusual freaky photos that could inspire our advert and help towards our advert in many ways. A lot of dark gloomy photos inspired me at first and then changed my mind so I can be eye catching to the customer. This print advert goes towards the film advert.
Then in these lessons we have been working indivually on the print adverts which would be used on a billboard and so on. Original ideas were for it to be more unique than freaky and wanted it to be retro looking, something everyone knows of or knew of. The characteristics of a unusual, freaky photo is that it needs to be a lot different from other photos something on it that makes it freakily unique like the background or a object on it or even the sub heading on the advert. For the four edited photos we had to create we had to use Photoshop and also properly learn how to use that too. We used Photoshop to crop objects on to other backgrounds to make it look real, and as professional as possible.

Also had to work with the Photoshop tools such as the cropping tool, magic wand tool and cloning tool and etc.

Whilst taking photos I had take in a few accounts such as the lighting coming from the studios lights, adjusting it putting it from different angles such as from bellows, the side or even viewpoint. Also the equipment like being careful with and not touching the lights when there burning hot, moreover we just took them in our class but used a table and a big sheets of plain white people to help with the lighting. I would take shots of different figures or objects something that fits with our product well and doesn't look over top or outplaced. I learned a lot different things about the camera like how to use it  , what certain buttons do and the different programmes and so. Furthermore, learned the different angle names such as viewpoint, leading lines etc. and the lighting balance which is called white balance. My finished work doesn't fully go with my proposal as I changed my mind, it was going to have a dark, evil, gloomy look to it but it has kind of bright colours and power rangers are featured in it. But I think its better then what my proposal was going to be as its a retro twist as its something everyone knows but with a mad twist.

Overall I think my created advert for my advert is pretty good and quite unique as its something you don't really see much but as its not met my proposal that much its better than the original
